Joystick all the way. I’ve got a Saitek X52 HOTAS, and the joystick integration for X3:TC was a bit disappointing. Freelancer is fun, but I’d love to see a game where you actually point the ship at your target.
I used to love Joystick for games like Tie fighter, wing Commander etc.
But I found Freelancers method of control – using the mouse to ‘point’ the ship and the keyboard to control rolls, speed etc was the best and most enjoyable personally.
Sadly, I have no facebook account, but I’ll just drop this here:
HOTAS setup with pedals.
(Back in the old days, twist stick worked fine too.)
I understand the need to support multiple types of inputs for mass appeal, but definitely be friendly to joystick users. (And who knows, if Sol sells well enough, it may reignite the Joystick market . . .)

I’m on PS3, because my computer is hopelessly outdated (It’s older than my PS2).
So yeah… that. With a decent control scheme, it can be done (See the new Star Raiders for an example of how to ALMOST get it right)
